Anticipating a late night out this New Year's Eve? Set yourself up for an amazing start to 2017 by preparing your body for lack of sleep and a few extra cocktails ahead of time with some natural remedies for hangovers and recipes to help recover from a hangover.
Two of my favorite superfoods are spirulina and chlorella. Both are blue green algaes, and while they may not smell amazing, they're some of the most protein dense foods on the planet, and are incredible for detoxing toxic substances from the body. Okay, they straight up smell like fish food, but avoiding a hangover is worth it! I'll promise you'll grow to like the taste eventually.
To prep for a big celebration on December 31, start detoxing your body a couple of days early. On December 30, drink a Pineapple Green smoothie with breakfast or lunch, then drink another one sometime on the 31st. You can drink another smoothie on January 1st, or if you want to change it up, you can make a Wheatgrass Hangover Elixir to start your day.

Pineapple Green Smoothie
- 3/4 cup fresh or frozen organic pineapple
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1 tsp organic spirulina
- 1 tsp organic chlorella
- 1 tbsp organic coconut oil
Wheatgrass Hangover Elixir
- 1 tsp organic wheatgrass
- 8 ounces cold water
- 1-2 tbsp organic lemon juice
